Oujda was founded by Berber king Ziri Ibn Attia


Oujda (in Berber is a city located in the Northeast of Morocco, bordered on the north and on the west by the Eastern Rif of which it is at the limit. It is the capital of the prefecture of Oujda-Angad, in the Oriental region. Its proximity to the port of Nador, another major city of the Oriental, and with Algeria allows it to be a crossing point between Morocco and Algeria. The city has a population of 410,000, according to the last general census of the population in 2014, making it the 10th largest city in Morocco. Oujda was founded by Berber king Ziri Ibn Attia, around 994 in the center of the plain of Angad.
