Tribute to drss Abdelhafid for his Great French Tamazight Dictionary


The High Commission for Amazighity paid tribute to Abdelhafid Idres, author of the "Grand Dictionnaire Français-Tamazight", recently released in the wake of the holding of the 22nd International Book Fair of Algiers. .
The recipient, despite a difficult state of health, has returned, a lexical work, impressive 2,000 pages and composed of more than 65,000 words, which some judge, as the most accomplished and the most complete of its kind.
The 72-year-old author of Amazigh culture has devoted more than 13 years of his life to it, with more than one hundred reference books, an incalculable number of glossaries from 14 linguistic varieties. tamazight, and reviewed and tested the rosaries of neologisms, taking care at every turn, to annotate all the words in yellow leaves, explanatory and descriptive of their origin. 
"It is an ant work", according to speakers during the tribute, which brought together, in the circumstances, academics, language practitioners and HCA executives, led by their general secretary, Si El Hachémite Assad.
The opportunity also provided the initiators, including HCA and ENAG, the two co-editors of the dictionary to regularize the author and to pay for his rights and at the same time give him symbolic encouragement gifts. as well as the promise to disseminate his work to the maximum.
Thus, in addition to the directions of culture of the wilayas of Bejaia and Jijel, the APC and the main library of Bejaia, this lexical work, is dedicated to enrich the rays of the structure of the HCA toll free number, libraries that make the request and the structures of translations.
Some 2,000 copies have already been published, according to Si El Hachemi Assad, which aims to make a reissue as broad, given the demand. The work, fulfilling a social, educational and educational need widely expressed, especially in the wake of the generalization of Tamazight and its new institutional status.
On the sidelines of this ceremony, punctuated by a guitar recital and testimonials on the work and its author, Mr. El Hachemi Assad, highlighted the partnership between the institution he runs and the ENAG editions, which have earned this publication.
"Because of the cost of its edition, without the contribution of ENAG, the dictionary could not have emerged, he said, promising to redo the experience, with other titles including the literary works and research theses.
