Tifinagh is an ancient alphabetical system dating back more than 5000 years. Tifinagh was the only system in the world that was not the development of another alphabetical system. It is not like the Latin calligraphy derived from the Phoenician line, not the Arabic calligraphy derived from the Aramaic line, not the Japanese calligraphy derived from the Chinese calligraphy of the fifth century, nor the Coptic calligraphy derived from the Greek line inlaid with the Demotic system that was used in the Nile Delta. This historical originality, for which we do not know, for example, the disciples discovered in Tunisia called the Tuva Manuscript preserved to date in the British Museum showing texts in Phoenician next to texts with the letter Tifinagh, which means that Tifinagh is not derived from the Phoenician characters that prevailed in the south Europe Tattoo Africa, as is the case for systems of Hellenism and Latin America and others.
After the desperate struggles of the Amazigh movement against the traditional opponents of the Amazigh component of Moroccan identity and after the intensive academic work of the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture, King Mohammed VI triumphed in January 2003 for the Amazigh position to reuse the Tifinagh system of writing the Amazigh language. The Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture adopted a version of the Tifinagh line that neutralized phonetic variants, retaining the letters indicating sounds that the phonological rules of the Amazigh language could not predict, on a comprehensive calibration horizon.
One of the advantages of the Tifinagh system is that it is the most accurate expression of the sounds of the language it represents? It distinguishes between loud and louder sounds (distinguishes between lighter and louder gai), between simplified and rounded sounds (such as a distinction between simplified and rounded guinea), and between full and sniffed sounds that are hardly felt by a non-Amazigh speaker. Superior to the written system in some Germanic languages such as English, which contrasts the written reading in a way that complicates the learning function is not satisfied even the English tongue themselves.
The functional advantages of this writing system are also that each phoneme of the Amazigh phonemes has one letter to represent it. It is in Arabic where the letter takes different forms depending on their location in the word, which complicates the task of pupils in learning.
One of the features of the Tifinagh line is that it is the most harmonious alphabet system in its engineering structure. All the letters of this system are reduced to a square divided by their diagonals into equal squares, and divided into three small circles into two equal halves. Its geometrical features (which distinguish it from all alphabets in the world) are also writable from left to right, right to left, bottom to top, and top to bottom, although the standard formula is written from left to right.
For a documented history of Tifinagh's history in Morocco, readers can refer to Tirra aux origines de l'écriture au Maroc, published in 2003 by the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture, written by Skonti, Majidi and Naeem.
Tifinagh is not just a biblical system, but a manifestation of the genius of the peoples of North Africa. We should therefore pay special attention at the national and international level as well.
